Marriage

Marriage is such a sacred and everlasting covenant. When you get married in the temple you are sealed to your spouse and your spouse to you for all eternity. If you live righteously you will be blessed with those promises and you will have everlasting joy. When I make those oaths and covenants to my husband I will do everything in my power (with the Lord by my side) to keep that marriage healthy and alive. I will love my husband through the good times and the bad, and through death on to eternity. Forever.

You must learn to “trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”15 You must be trustworthy and surround yourself with friends who desire to be likewise.” - Pres. Packer (Counsel to Youth)

·         “Man is mortal and his acts are limited by mortality; God is eternal, and his acts have no end.” –Bruce R. McConkie (Celestial Marriage)

·         “Covenant marriage requires a total leap of faith; they must keep their covenants without knowing what risks that may require of them. They must surrender unconditionally, obeying God and sacrificing for each other. Then they will discover what Alma called “incomprehensible joy.”” –Bruce C. Hafen (Covenant Marriage)

·         “Her husband found so much to praise in her that she gradually began to believe she was a good person and that her opinions mattered. His belief in her rekindled her innate self-worth.” –Bruce C. Hafen (Covenant Marriage)

·         “When we observe the covenants we make at the altar of sacrifice, we discover hidden reservoirs of strength.” –Bruce C. Hafen (Covenant Marriage)

·         “To the youth of the Church rising up to missions and temples and marriage, we say: “Love God and remain clean from the blood and sins of this generation. You have a monumental work to do, underscored by that marvelous announcement President Thomas S. Monson made yesterday morning. Your Father in Heaven expects your loyalty and your love at every stage of your life.”” –Jeffrey R. Holland (The First Great Commandment)

“We trust the Lord to guide the way and seek only to do His will. We know that He has placed a great deal of trust in us, individually and collectively.

·         “Feeling the security and constancy of love from a spouse, a parent, or a child is a rich blessing. Such love nurtures and sustains faith in God. Such love is a source of strength and casts out fear (see 1 John 4:18). Such love is the desire of every human soul.” –David A. Bednar (More Diligent and Concerned at Home)

·         “Marriage requires a full partnership where wives and husbands work side by side to meet the needs of the family.” –Quentin L. Cook (LDS Women Are Incredible!)

·         “How sweet is the assurance, how comforting is the peace that come from the knowledge that if we marry right and live right, our relationship will continue, notwithstanding the certainty of death and the passage of time.” –Gordon B. Hinckley (The Marriage That Endures)

·         “God bless you, that as you look forward to or contemplate your marriage, you may look not only for rewarding companionship and rich and fruitful family relationships through all of your mortal days, but to an even better estate where love and treasured associations may be felt and known under a promise given of God.” –Gordon B. Hinckley (The Marriage That Endures)
